FAQs

WHAT CAN WE DO TO HELP GET THE BEST PHOTOS POSSIBLE?

If you want the best light, you need to plan for it…a couple shoot done at 3pm in summer will never look as good as on done in the last hour or so before sunset. The light becomes much softer and this makes everything look more beautiful.

When choosing a place to get ready, keep in mind that bigger windows and more natural light will make you photos so much better. If you are getting married outside, plan the layout so that you can stand with your backs to the sun, otherwise you might end up frowning a lot and having weird shadows all over.

I’m sure you’ve looked at wedding photos and gone, “WOW, that is a beautiful location”. Keep in mind that locations like those will usually require a bit of walk on the wild side and having a pair of flat shoes handy will make this a lot easier. Most venues in the Cape have beautiful locations close by, but if yours does not, remember to add time for driving around into your schedule.

ANY TIPS FOR THE DAY?

Finish your planning before the wedding day and then try your best to just enjoy it all and be present in every moment. It goes by really fast and you do not want to be wasting it by worrying about small things.

Jonas Peterson said it best: “At the center of every wedding we have a girl. Who fell in love with a boy. Or a girl who fell in love with a girl. Or a boy who fell in l… you get my point. The rest is fluff.”

HOW EXPERIENCED ARE YOU AT WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY?

Very.

DO YOU WORK WITH A 2nd SHOOTER?

Yes, Ellen assists me at most weddings. Having her around makes things go a lot smoother and will help you get the most from the time we have to shoot. When Ellen shoots highlight videos we prefer to bring an additional assistant along to help us carry and second shoot when necessary.

DO YOU CHARGE PER HOUR?

Not usually. We do not base our packages on hours unless the couple wants an hourly package. This means that we try to start coverage around 10:30am and only require that you schedule your day so that we can travel home around by 10pm. This way you do not have to skimp on the preparation or the celebration and it allows us enough time to capture photos of the entire day. When the bride and groom gets ready close to one another, we also have time to get photos of the guys. *We do offer a shorter packages for winter and morning weddings on request.

HOW ARE TRAVEL COSTS CALCULATED?

Travel is calculated at R3 per kilometre. When the venue is more than 120km from Cape Town, accommodation arrangements will be discussed with the couple and charged at cost. Sometimes it makes more sense to fly than to drive.

WHERE ARE YOU BASED AND DO YOU TRAVEL FOR WEDDINGS?

I’m based in Cape Town and will gladly travel to cover your wedding.

HOW DO YOU DRESS WHEN YOU SHOOT A WEDDING?

I try to be dressed as neatly as possible and will blend in well with your guests. If your wedding is strictly formal, just let me know and we will suit-up.

IF YOU HAVE NOT BEEN TO A SPECIFIC VENUE BEFORE, HOW WILL YOU KNOW WHERE TO GO TO TAKE PHOTOS?

When I shoot at new venues I arrive early and scout the best locations before the day gets going.

HOW DO WE BOOK YOU?

Get in touch from the “contact us” section section. I’ll send you my availability and packages. If you want to meet to discuss anything or get to know me a bit, just let me know and and we can grab a coffee. You will secure the date by paying the required deposit and sending back the signed contract. Then we’ll setup a date for our consultation closer to the wedding. It’s that easy.
